When you rerun a report, there is a small chance that you will get slightly different report, because flags have been changed, or the report has been modified. If you want to preserve your report as it was when it was originally ran, then you can easily do that by saving it to the Report Archive. Once the report is archived, you can return to it over and over again without even rerunning it.
Now you have your very own microfiche system – minus the clunky reader.
Workflow is a great way to assign tasks to people and then track the progress of the tasks, because they are always visible, and never get misplaced or lost like the manual processes tend to allow. But sometimes you just have to take a break, and rather than having your workflow tasks languish until you get back, or even worse, follow you on vacation, use the delegation feature within Dynamics AX to route them to someone else that you trust.

The Home page within Dynamics AX is one of the most useful pages there is, because it gives you one place that you can go to in order to see everything that you are interested in. You can make it even more useful by having the page set to automatically refresh periodically so that you don’t have to click the F5 button to refresh the page manually.

A lot of the time you are not just working on one record at a time, you are processing batches of records. For example, you may be releasing multiple orders to picking, confirming multiple purchase orders, or printing multiple order confirmations. Dynamics AX makes this easy as pie to do because a lot of the time, you can use the multiple selection option to choose the records that you want to perform the same action on, and then it will work through them one at a time so that you don’t have to.

There are two types of users in the world. Those that are attached to their mouse and want to click through the application, and those that are attached to the keyboard and want to use shortcut keys to do everything. The document attachments function within Dynamics AX is super useful, but if you don’t want all of the files that you attach cluttering up your database, or stored away on a local file share, there is another option available. You can save them off to SharePoint. This also has a side benefit of allowing you to take advantage of the features of SharePoint such as document control, versioning, and also workflow if you like to manage the processing of the attached documents.
Sometimes one version of Dynamics AX running on your desktop is just not enough. Rather than reaching for the desktop shortcut to start up another instance of the application, just create a new Workspace. They start up so much faster.

Document attachments are a great feature within Dynamics AX, because it allows you to attach notes and files to almost any piece of data within the system. But don’t reattach the same document over and over again if it applies to multiple records, use the copy and paste option that is built into the Document Management feature.
