Scheduling resources for projects can be difficult, especially if you have a large group of workers that you are trying to manage. Luckily for you all, Dynamics AX has a feature for visually seeing all of your workers available capacity, and also for quickly allocating workers to projects.

A lot of the time when you are looking for a product you are looking for it by the product mane, and not the product number. Rather than navigate the drop down list, and then turn on the filter selector, you can just type in the product name, and if there is a unique match then Dynamics AX will swap the name for the correct part code.
Now you can stop memorizing all of those part codes.
At first glance, entering in all of your budgets within Dynamics AX may seem like a daunting prospect, because it looks like you need to break all of your budget entries out by account, and then by period. But it’s not really the case. You can link all of your budget with Excel templates that you can then use to make the entry an extremely simple task.
Budgeting within Dynamics AX does not have to be a painful process.
PowerView is a great way to create your own dashboards and analysis for Dynamics AX because everyone is able to use it… even the non-technical of you out there. If you create a cool dashboard though, you don’t need to keep it in the shadows of your own personal files, you can share it with others by saving it back to the PowerView reports folder, and you can also make it available to everyone by adding it to your default role centers so that everyone is able to take advantage of it.

Even through the Point Of Sale screens that are available for Dynamics AX are designed to be poked and prodded through touchscreens, if you are a keyboard jockey, then you may want to be able to use shortcut keys to get around to speed things up a little. If you don’t have any shortcuts already defined, then you can easily do this directly within the POS application.

Dynamics AX allows you to specify warehouses that are designated to refill other warehouses. This feature is really useful because it will make MRP top up the stock within the child warehouses through transfers rather than a purchase order, and then plan to purchase more product at the refilling warehouse to cover the demand. There is also no limit to the number of levels that you can have, so smaller retail locations can be refilled from area distribution centers, which could be replenished from a central production of receiving center.
This makes your purchasing a lot more centralized and stops you from nickel and diming your suppliers with small orders from each location.
You probably have already used the Dynamics AX add-in within Excel to access data, but don’t forget that you can also do something similar within Word as well in order to create templates that will merge in data directly from Dynamics AX with the push of a button. But it doesn’t stop there, you can then save the Word templates back to a template library and Dynamics AX will make it available to everyone through the client itself.
This is a great way to create lightweight reports or commonly used templates for correspondence that you have instant access to.
Use Attributes To Track Additional Product Specifications
If you want to track additional attributes against Products within Dynamics AX, you can easily do it by adding Attributes to your product through the new Retail capabilities.
This means that you never have to resort to database modifications in order to add all of those additional reference fields that you need to track against products.
Export PowerView Dashboards as PowerPoint To Create Dynamic and Interactive Presentations
PowerView is a great tool for creating reports and dashboards directly from Dynamics AX, and is by far one of the cooler reporting tools that you can use. It has a very cool feature that allows you to export any of your saved dashboards to PowerPoint, and these reports become interactive when you go into SlideShow mode. This is a great way to create template presentations that you can use over and over again and always have the most up-to-date data showing.
Never again will you have to create 100 variations of the same sales report where the only difference is the customer account that you are reporting on.
Use The New Task Recorder To Create Training Documents And Videos
The Task Recorder has always been a great tool for creating user training documentation, but with the CU6/7 releases of Dynamics AX, it has been taken to the next level. When you create your task recordings, it now automatically creates your task recording documents for you so that you don’t have to do that step manually, and also it creates a recording of your Task Recording automatically.
This makes the generation of training martial, and reference videos a breeze.
